First the bad news ...

Fjordline has closed down the ferry route between Newcastle England and Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen in Norway. The ferry "Fjord Norway" has been sold and will be used by DFDS the Danish ferry operator in the future (see the good news below).
This route was revived in November 2005 after it closed down following the sale of "Jupiter" and does not seem to have done well, possibly because of the low frequency of sailings - only one round trip in the winter, and two in the summer - as the vessel spent part of the time on the Bergen - Egersund - Hanstholm Denmark route

DFDS is also closing down the route between Newcastle, Kristiansand and Gothenberg. This long-running UK - Norway - Sweden ferry link leaves Newcastle for the last time today.
It will be replaced by the new service by DFDS seaways between Newcastle, Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen starting soon.

... and then some good news

From early November 2006 DFDS seaways will operate the ferry service between Newcastle UK and Stavanger, Haugesund and Bergen in Norway. The first service will leave Bergen on 9 November 2006.
The ferry to be used - "M.S. Princess of Norway" - is currently being refurbished for 50 million Norwegian kroner (NOK) (over 4 million pounds GBP). It is the former "Fjord Norway"
The ferry will run on this service 100%, with two round trips each week in the winter, and three in the summer.
