Viking festival Karmøy near Haugesund Norway

The Viking festival is held for 4 days in June each year at Avaldsnes at the north end of the island of Karmøy, near Haugesund.
You can see displays, battle simulations, viking dress, a market with "real" vikings making and selling their handiwork, music, saga story-telling and lots of meat cooking on the barbeque.

church doorway This event takes place at several venues around the Avaldnes area, which was the home of Norwegian kings for 500 years, starting with Harald Haarfagre (Fair Hair) in 872.
On Saturday evening there is a show suitable for families from 17.00 to 20.00 with story-telling, displays, music, fun and games.
