Rainbow hotels become Thon hotels today

Olav Thon bought his first hotel nearly 30 years ago and started Rainbow hotels in 1990, so this is a re-branding and change of name, not a change of ownership.

The 43 hotels will belong to one of three categories: Thon Budget, Thon City or Thon Conference.

For most hotels in south west Norway the name change means replacing Rainbow Hotel with Thon Hotel - for example Rainbow Hotel Sandnes becomes the Thon Hotel Sandnes, but the Rainbow Bryggen Orion Hotel in Bergen becomes the Thon Hotel Bergen Brygge
