Ryfylke - islands fjords and mountains

The Ryfylke is the area north and east of Stavanger. Going north or east from Stavanger you have to get across Boknfjord, by some combination of ferries, bridges and tunnels. The E39 between Stavanger and Bergen and highway (RV) 13 through Tau, Hjelmeland and Sand to Roldal are well-known, but the islands (with names like Rennesoy, Finnoy and Ombo) are a well-kept secret. Even if you are passing through, it is worth spending the time to "island hop" across Boknafjord - several ferries, plus bridges and tunnels through another world that still lives and depends on the sea and boats.
