Stokkalandsvatnet near Sandnes

Enjoy a 4km walk or cycle ride around lake Stokkalandsvatnet at Ganddal, a few kilometres south of the small town of Sandnes. Or perhaps simply go to feed the ducks and sit and relax on the benches beside the sculpture at the west end of the lake. In late summer the lake is full of beautiful flowering water-lilies.

checking out the water The walk around the lake is very varied. Towards the north end of the lake is a tiny, but well-loved beach with a small jetty from which kids love to fish with sticks.
On the west and south sides of the lake the path is quite undulating and is very much in more exposed countryside.
There are benches and picnic tables scattered around the whole walk.
For a longer walk join the 3km Storaana riverside trail to Sandnes. Or at the north end of the lake, walk 1km along the path into Hoyland and take a look at the picturesque church or visit the garden centre.
