Vaaland Kolonihage
Take a relaxing Sunday stroll through Vaaland kolonihage (allotments)
and be inspired by lots of summer blossoms in this little sun trap. Enjoy
a cup of tea or coffee and waffles or icecream in the café or sitting
on the veranda in the sunshine. Don't miss seeing the big flower wheel! |

The allotments are on the outskirts of the town centre close to lake Mosvatnet
and within easy reach on foot or by bike. The gardens have mainly flowers and shrubs but also some fruit trees and vegetables. Each allotment has a cosy hut which adds to the informality and charm of the gardens. You will probably see many of the gardeners at work as you walk around. For a longer walk take the 3km or 4km trail around lake Mosvatnet and through the woods, Valandskogen and divert up to Valands tower (Vålandstarnet) near the outdoor swimming pool (Gamlingen) for a view down over Stavanger. Map reference: Kartblad 1212IV Stavanger, 117 394 By car: Driving south out of Stavanger on E39, take first exit and follow signs for Mosvangen camping. 1km walk anticlockwise around lake and across motorway bridge, turn right and follow trail to gardens. Parking: Local bus from Stavanger Sentrum to the hospital (SUS) On foot: 2.5 km walk from centre of town Distance from Stavanger: 2.5km |
