North of Stavanger

The area north of Stavanger towards Bergen includes Haugesund and islands including Karmoy and Stord on the coast with the Ryfylke and Hardanger areas of islands, fjords and mountains eating into the mainland Further inland are glaciers and the great isolated and inaccessible (by road) Hardangervidda - but open to the fit and adventurous travelling by ski from hytte to hytte.
