Tungenes Lighthouse

This beautiful headland is a favourite short walk with superb sea views. It can be very windy here. The perfect place for a brisk walk to blow away the cobwebs or explore the rocks and rockpools down by the sea. There is a small boat harbour and a good museum to boats and working on the sea (open four days a year).
The lighthouse (or Lys, in norwegian) is no longer used, but there are often art exhibitions and other information here.

looking out to the North Sea From the little harbour walk past the Norsk Sjobruk museum of old boats and engines. Follow the path through the field of curious cows along to the lighthouse. Then either return the same way or walk along the dirt road from the lighthouse back to the harbour.

For a longer walk, continue over the stile at the lighthouse along the rocks for 1.5km to the small and beautiful Sande beach. This is the most northerly of the Jaeren sandy beaches. Return to the carpark along the road or retrace the coastal route.
