Brekko ski trails

is one of the closest places to Stavanger and Sandnes for good cross-country
skiing, and when the conditions are good it is very popular - at weekends

Here
are many kilometers of trails - some of them are wide gravel tracks with
lighting for the evenings, others are country tracks. Families come here
with skis and sledges to have picnics and relax in this lovely wooded parkland
in the hills. Others come to train, and will do many loops around the course here - this was set up as a biathlon ski-shooting venue, but it rarely has usable snow. If there is good snow here at the weekend, don't be surprised to see hundreds of people and maybe having to park far down the road. It is lovely to come here in the summer too - but be aware that bikes are not welcome, so you will come to walk, not ride. Map reference: Rogaland Fylkeskart: 3308 65186 By car: Drive south from Stavanger beyond Ålgård, take the RV 45 towards Sirdal, then right after 7-8 kilometers and follow signs for Brekko. You can also take the small road off the E 39 just beyond the RV 45, on the other side of the lake. Parking: There are 2 car parks here, one at the end of the road and one at the top of the track beyond. Don't forget to pay (put money in an envelope and post it) Distance from Stavanger: 45 km |
